Douglas County Commissioner Danny Tarkanian has announced that he's running for Nevada Attorney General.

Currently, that position is filled by Aaron D. Ford.

You may remember Tarkanian challenged Dean Heller in the 2018 Republican primary, but then dropped out to run as the Republican candidate for Nevada Congressional District 3 - a race he lost.

The Republican was first elected to the Douglas County Commission in 2020.

He released this statement:

"Nevadans deserve an Attorney General who prioritizes public safety, upholds the Constitution, and diligently advocates for justice and fairness for all citizens," Tarkanian said.

"I have never backed down from a fight; especially when it comes to standing up for Nevadans against powerful special interests. I’ll do the right thing even when it’s unpopular, because real leadership means putting your principles before political expediency.”

Meanwhile, earlier this month, State Treasurer Zach Conine announced his bid for Nevada Attorney General in 2026.

Conine was first elected in 2018 and is serving his second term.
