State Treasurer Zach Conine has announced that he's running Nevada Attorney General in 2026.

Currently, that position is filled by Aaron D. Ford.

Conine was first elected in 2018 and is serving his second term.

He released this statement:

“Nevadans deserve an Attorney General who will fight every day to protect their rights, ensure equal justice under the law, and stand up to powerful interests when they threaten our communities. As Treasurer, I’ve worked to safeguard taxpayer dollars and expand financial protections for working families. Now, I want to take that fight to the Attorney General’s office—where I’ll hold bad actors accountable, stand up for Nevadans, and make sure the law works for everyone, not just the powerful. And if Trump, Elon, or anyone messes with Nevada, we’ll see them in court.”

The Washoe County Republican Party released this statement to 2 News Nevada in reaction to the announcement:

"Mr. Conine is welcome to run for Nevada Attorney General on the Democrat ticket. It is always nice to know in advance who the Republican candidate will be running against. I am curious if Mr. Conine will be supporting the failed policies of the Democrat Party or if he has a platform of his own to stand on. We shall see."

Zach is running to be Nevada’s next Attorney General because Nevadans deserve someone who isn’t afraid of rolling up their sleeves to take on the big fights.
