On Friday, the Nevada Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Nevada Democratic Party's lawsuit to block Green Party candidate Jill Stein from appearing on November's general election ballot.

Stein had strong words for the democratic party.

"This is extremely anti-democratic. This is a slap in the face to the voters of Nevada, who deserve choices. That's what democracy is supposed to be about, and this is another case of the anti-democratic party if it were labeled correctly, slapping down voters," said Green Party Presidential candidate Dr. Jill Stein.

In a 5 - 2 ruling on Friday, the court agreed with lawyers representing the Nevada Democratic Party that the Green Party's petition contained wrong affidavit language, invalidating more than 15,000 signatures.

The decision reversed a lower court's ruling that allowed them to qualify.

The affidavit language used by the Green Party is the same as the one recommended by the Nevada Secretary of State's office in its guide for minor parties. However, the court ruled that the Green Party's failure to use correct language cannot be excused by its reliance on a sample ballot petition received from the secretary.

This week, the Nevada Supreme Court ruled in favor of a lawsuit by the Nevada Democratic party to block Green Party Candidate Jill Stein from appearing on November's general election ballot. Stein had strong words for the democratic party.

"This is a pattern. What they're doing in Nevada is also what they're trying to do in many other states to wipe out competition. Competition is what democracy is supposed to be all about, and they're doing this in many ways. They announced proudly last March that they had hired an army of lawyers to find little details in the law," said Stein.

We fact-checked Stein's statement, and the Democratic party did, in fact, prepare a team of lawyers and communications specialists to counter potential spoiler candidates in March.

On Friday, the Nevada Democratic Party issued the following statement:

"We applaud the Nevada State Supreme Court's decision that the Green Party failed to meet state law. This ruling is a victory for Nevada voters and ensures that the Green Party follows the same rules as other campaigns." - Nevada State Democratic Party Executive Director Hilary Barrett.

Now, the only minor party candidate to appear on Nevada's general election ballot is the Libertarian party candidate, Chase Oliver. Stein tells us the Green Party us in the process of appealing Friday's ruling to the United States Supreme Court.
