Reno Police say a portion of southbound Veterans Parkway was closed at Steamboat after a crash involving a large crane.

The crash happened at approximately 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

Police say the driver was cited for hitting the traffic pole. The crane and traffic signal arm have been removed.

The lights at the intersection are flashing red so drivers will need to treat the area as a four-way traffic stop.

No one was hurt.

The Reno Police Department says due to extensive damage to the electrical system, the traffic signal will remain on a flashing red, four-way stop through the morning commute on Thursday.

They said Public Works will be replacing the southbound mast arm at 9 a.m. on Thursday. Officials said they hope to have the intersection back to normal operations by the evening commute.

Drivers are advised to use an alternate route during peak hours.
