UPS and Amazon say they're getting ready for the holiday season by going on a hiring spree.
The shipping giant announced yesterday its plans to hire 100,000 seasonal employees.
These positions will mostly be for package handlers, drivers and driver-helpers.
The company wants to increase its amount of working employees to prepare for the increase in packages expected during the holidays.
UPS says it expects to hire over a third of seasonal workers permanently after the holidays.
Likewise, Amazon is looking for more than 30,000 new workers.
Reports say Amazon's career day will be the largest job recruit event in the nation.
The event will be in six different cities -- Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Nashville, Seattle and Virginia.Â
In fact, Amazon is planning to open its second U.S. headquarters in Virginia.Â
The Amazon hiring event takes place on September 17, 2019.
The company says all jobs will pay at least $15 an hour and will have competitive benefits.Â
