The Fountainhouse Complex will house ten multi-family apartment units in the heart of Victorian Square in Sparks.
We first told you about the City of Sparks approving the Fountainhouse Apartment project in May of last year. And the construction process began on the 236-unit complex back in September.
Developers now say they are about 20% along in their work.
On one side of the street, construction crews are working on the foundation for the building while on the other side of the street, they just completed their first building frame, with nine more still to come.
“We think the area is going to be a dramatic change, it will be a district unto itself within the community, it'll be a place when we get done with the stores and shops and other amenities, that people will want to come back and return to,” says J. Carter Witt, President, Silverwing Development.
The clubhouse for this $40 million housing project is expected to be open sometime in May, with the first building hopefully coming to completion soon after in June.
From that point forward, developers hope to finish at least one building a month.
Developers say since construction began, business in Victorian Square has been impacted from the workers alone.
And they expect this boom too feel even more evident once there are nearly 500 people living in the Sparks downtown district.
"One of the goals of the City of Sparks as well as us is to energize and populate downtown Sparks, so things happen and that's what's really going on here,” says Doug Hunter, Director of Operations.
Developers hope to have construction completed by the beginning of next year.
