Garbage and recycle trucks around Northern Nevada are going green as Waste Management expands their fleet of Compressed Natural Gas, or CNG trucks.Â
"Those trucks run cleaner," said Sarah Polito, communications specialist with Waste Management. "We see a 22%Â reduction in green house gas emissions with these trucks."Â
In total, Waste Management has 110 trucks. Out of those, 32 trucks run on compressed natural gas. Under the single stream recycling contract with the City of Reno, Waste Management agreed to have 12 CNGÂ trucks out on the road, however, the company has increased that by 20.Â
Waste Management says their goal is to have 100%Â of the trucks run on CNGÂ in a few years.Â
