UPDATE: The Washoe County School District has appointed Dr. Kristen McNeill as the district's new superintendent.

The Board of Trustees voted in favor 6-1 on Tuesday.

Original Story: The Washoe County School District will consider whether to appoint Dr. Kristen McNeill as the district's new superintendent at a meeting Tuesday afternoon.

McNeill has been serving as interim superintendent since June of last year.

Back in March, in light of the coronavirus pandemic, the school board voted to end a nationwide search for a new superintendent and to consider appointing McNeill at a meeting Tuesday. The meeting will be streamed online -
