Two weekend-long festivals came to a close in the river walk district and downtown Reno on Sunday.
The Reno River Festival and the Reno Sculpture Fest are two weekend-long activities that work to capture the culture of the area.
Aric Shapiro with the Reno Sculpture Fest says at any time on Saturday there were at least 2,000 people on site checking out the sculptures and close to 10,000 attending over the course of the weekend.
He believes showing off this kind of art in the downtown district is attracting a very large audience.
"It inspires people to create more, it inspires people to be involved in their community, it connects people," says Shapiro.
Just a few streets over organizers at the Reno River festival say they were connecting people as well and showing off the revitalization of downtown Reno. With all kinds of food, activities and vendors to choose from this weekend, organizer Neil Horning says there was enough to bring everyone together.
“One day just isn't enough, that's exactly it, it's like going to a theme park you know one day you're not going to be able to see it all so that multiple days to really take advantage of every little element of these events is important,” says Horning.
Many mothers were also on hand for the wrap-up of these two events. Mother's day brought many mom's outdoors to celebrate the holiday with family and loved one's.
