UPDATE: Officials say Malika Angulo has been released from custody and has been cooperative with authorities.
They say further details will be provided pending the results of the autopsy.
The Carson City Sheriff's Office (CCSO) says at 9:20 a.m., they received information that a female living at the 1600 block of Airport Road had taken drugs in October of 2019 to miscarry her pregnancy and that the fetus was still in the refrigerator/freezer at the home.Â
They say when officers arrived at the apartment, the mother confirmed the information received.
The CCSO says 22-year-old Malika Angulo was taken into custody at the scene.Â
They say her 2-year-old daughter was at the scene and was released to Child Protective Services, pets were released to the Humane Society.
The CCSO says detectives retrieved the fetus from the freezer.Â
They say the body has been transferred to the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.Â
The CCSO says investigators have been on scene at Airport Road throughout the morning processing the area.Â
