Young Teens Crash Maserati, Bursts Into Flames on I-80 Near Truckee

Two teens were severely burned after their Maserati crashed burst into flames after hitting a guardrail on I-80 east near Donner Pass late Thursday night.

CHP says a 14-year-old boy was driving about 100 mph eastbound when he lost control of the car and it hit a metal guardrail which smashed through the passenger's door where it burst into flames.

The driver climbed out of the car with severe burns. 

The passenger, a 15-year-old girl, also got out of the car, collapsing in front of the burning car.

CHP says an off duty officer from the Redwood City Police Department saw the fiery crash and helped the teens.  

Both teens were flown by Care Flight taken to UC Davis Medical Center.

CHP says drugs and/or alcohol were not involved.
