Busy photography student Nicole Motta is usually the picture of good health.

But when she recently got sick she didn't go to the doctor.

"It was impossible to get an appointment with my primary care doctor."

So instead she pulled out her smartphone and tried the new app Vitalyz.

Put in your symptoms and in about an hour.

"Hi Nicole - yes - hi I'm Katie."

The company sends a nurse to your door.

"What has been going on the last couple of days?"

"I had a fever, I also had a really bad cough and stuffy nose, a lot of headaches."

After running through the symptoms and checking vital signs, the two video conference with a doctor.

"You most likely have what we call a URI which is an upper respiratory infection."

Vitalyz is one of a handful of companies offering house calls in larger cities…. including pager.com which will send a doctor to your door.

Dr. Kimberly Henderson is an emergency room physician who also makes house calls for pager.com

"This is the doctor bag we travel with."

The bag contains everything from sutures to strep tests.

"We also walk around with 20 of the most prescribed medications"

Dr. Henderson adds, "When you are in the ER you spend 2 to 3 minutes tops with the patient it's nice to be able to sit down and talk to the patient and get to know them."

Pager.com takes insurance but bills out of network

Vytaliz does not take insurance.

Both cost around $200.

Motta who was treated with fluids and pain medication, says it's worth it.

"I didn't waste any time waiting - so I feel that's the part that's really great."
