City of Reno upgraded courts - free public day

The City of Reno is inviting the public to spend a spring morning on the courts with a free community event focused on tennis and pickleball.

Reno Tennis Center Community Day is set for Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to noon at the facility located at 2601 Plumas St. The event is open to people of all ages and skill levels.

“I encourage our residents to get outside and have some fun with this free, family-friendly event at the Reno Tennis Center,” said Ward 5 Councilmember Devon Reese. “This is an excellent opportunity to check out the facility and meet other community members who share the love of the sport.”

The event will include organized games, drop-in play, an introduction to pickleball class, and child and parent tennis play for children ages seven and up. Food trucks will also be on site.

The City said the event comes after recent improvements to the facility. In 2025, Reno completed renovations funded through a $2.3 million allocation from the American Rescue Plan Act.

Upgrades included renovating four tennis courts and converting two tennis courts into six pickleball courts. In total, six courts were resurfaced, including four with a new asphalt overlay, along with acrylic coating and striping for pickleball. Additional improvements included ADA-accessible ramps and fencing repairs.

The facility now features 10 tennis hardcourts and 24 pickleball courts.

Registration for lessons, programs, events, and court reservations is available at the Reno Tennis Center or online. Private and group lessons, racquet stringing, and tennis ball machines are available for various fees.
