Area businesses are still feeling the pains of the pandemic. Businesses that typically thrive off of events say they're still struggling, despite being able to reopen last week.

2 news spoke to the Office Manager of Celebrations! Party Rentals and Tents, Leah Deguzman. The company supplies equipments for events like weddings, parties, corporate gatherings, and many other celebrations. Deguzman says Spring and Summer are the busiest time of the year for them, with weddings making up the majority of their revenue.

However, with all the uncertainty the coronavirus brings, many people are canceling or postponing their events. Deguzman said the majority of bookings are canceled in the months of June and July. Last year the company would book about 50 events every weekend, but now she estimates that they'll only do about one or two every weekend.

But the company is moving forward and adapting to the times. Along with practicing safety precautions within the showroom, they started offering different products and ideas so people can celebrate and still practice social distancing.

Celebrations is making custom partitions that can go in bars, buffets, or between spaces where people are gathered. To adhere to Phase 2 guidelines the limits gatherings to no more than 50 people, the company says it will also help people plan placement and settings that will adhere to Phase 2 restrictions.

Deguzman says there are still many ways to celebrate and be safe, which is why Deguzman says people should look at their options before canceling a day of celebration.

She also suggest holding several parties with smaller groups of people, or limiting a guest list.

"Figure out a way that you're comfortable with narrowing it down and having it more intimate and more meaningful." Deguzman said.
