Construction on the century-old building that is now the Bank Saloon started back in December of last year.

The Nevada Builder's Alliance is teaming with the operator of Mangia Tutto to shake up the bar business in Carson City.

Right now they're holding a soft opening of the Bank Saloon, with the official grand opening set for November. "We talked to the community about what they wanted and we really gravitated toward this idea of a sophisticated and refined cocktail lounge," said Nevada Builders Alliance CEO Aaron West.

The Bank Saloon's concept started with the building itself. The building is more than 120 years old, It's an ideal location right across from the legislature.

The most recent occupant, Jack's Bar closed 3 decades ago. It's been deteriorating ever since, so the Builders Alliance had to shore up and renovate the inside. "We wanted to pay homage to the historical aspect of the building. We really wanted to do a lot of case work. So that's what you see with the wainscoting," said West.

In back of the building is an open patio for live music and spots for food trucks.

Food can also be delivered from the Mangia Tutto, or other locations. "We welcome and invite guests to bring food in. Call up the other restaurants and have them bring it over," said Bank Saloon bar operator and proprietor Richard Bragiel.

History and quality also tie into the drinks being served. "Some of the classic stuff, the Old Fashions and Manhattans are just not made properly. If you come in here you will notice the difference. A lot of the classic cocktails we're branding with specific liquors, high end stuff. It definitely changes the notes and flavors of these cocktails," said Bragiel. "The building was build in 1899. That is so cool, especially if you're doing classic cocktails and adding a whiskey program. We're really trying to tie into that 19th century vibe," said Bank Saloon bar manager Bill Bennett.

The Bank Saloon plans to have live music and it's patio open in time for Nevada Day.
