Reno Public Market is planning a different kind of night out for people looking to meet someone, without relying on apps or traditional speed dating.
The venue will host its first “Date Night” from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, April 12, bringing singles together for introductions, conversation, and a chance to connect in a more relaxed setting.
The event will include hors d’oeuvres and drink specials, with a host guiding the evening. Organizers say the host, along with the crowd, will help ask the kinds of questions people often want answered before a first date.
If two people connect, they will have the opportunity to go on a free date at one of several participating locations. Those include Axe Magic, Carpet Golf, Press Start Reno, Guns & Range, North Peak Climbing & Fitness, Coffee & Comics, Nevada Museum of Art, National Automobile Museum, Roller Kingdom, Recycled Records, JMAXX Concert Productions, The Alpine, Reno, Noble Pie, Indian Kabab, SüP, J Resort, and Reno Escape Rooms.
Organizers say the event is designed to move away from online matching and create a more natural way for people to meet face to face.
If couples who meet at the event are still dating by the time of the next Date Night, they are invited to return and share their story. Organizers say dinner will be covered by the Reno Public Market for those returning matches.
