Winners for the 31st annual Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off were announced Monday.
For the second year in a row, Montana Q Bar-B-Que took home first place. The Frenchtown, Montana competitors won $10,000.
The rest of the winners are as follows;
Second place: Checkered Pig BBQ, from Martinsville, Virginia, $5,000
Third place: Hole In The Wall BBQ from Eugene, Oregon, $2,000
Fourth Place: Austin’s Texas Lightning, from Burr Ridge, Illinois, $1,000
Fifth Place: Famous Dave’s Barbeque, from Reno, $500
People’s Choice Award: Back Forty Texas Barbecue, from Pleasant Hill, California $500
Best Sauce: Git-R-Smoked, from Fernley, $500.
This year, 23 teams competed for the big prize and served up more than 250,000 pounds of meat for the event.
