The BLM says the 5,260-acre Owyhee Fire in Elko County is now 100% contained. The BLM says the fire started when a bird hit a powerline.
The wildfire started last Saturday east of Owyhee near the Duck Valley Shoshone-Paiute Reservation
The fire burned in brush and short grass. It was pushed by winds and steep terrain.
Firefighters reached full containment Friday at 8:00 p.m.
The BLM says dry conditions remain in the area, so they are asking everyone to practice fire safety.
