A recent break-in at a University of Nevada fraternity house is serving as a reminder about maintaining home security. Officials say the break-in happened in the middle the day last week at a house on University Terrace. The intruder broke the window to get in.
"What concerns me is how determined she was o get inside, I am not sure if her intentions were different, if she was trying to cause harm, I am not sure what lengths she would go to do that," says Jacob Wortham, TKE member.
Law enforcement believe the person who broke in has mental health issues. The intruder told the police she broke in because she felt something was chasing her. She had a metal tool to break the window. UNR Police chief Todd Renwick says, it's a good reminder to stay on top of it when it comes to safety.
"One of the good strategies we teach people is to try to lock your house and try to break in yourself, minus breaking a window, look for vulnerable areas, are there windows that don't secure the right way, do doors latch appropriately," says Todd Renwick, UNR Police Chief.
