The SnowGlobe Music Festival will be back in South Lake Tahoe starting Sunday.

This is the festival's ninth year and organizers say they couldn't be more excited to see the three-day event return.

"We have three stages of artists performing over the next three days. It's basically a collection of dance music, hip-hop with some Indie acts in there as well. So we're certainly very excited," says SnowGlobe Founder Chad Donnelly.

Thousands of people are expected to attend this year.

Donnelly says ensuring everyone's safety while they have a good time is their primary concern.

They will have medical staff as well as security present to make sure the event runs smoothly.

They also want to ask people to make smart decisions.

"It also just really comes down to the individual and taking accountability for their own personal decisions. But for some reason if someone does over indulge we will be prepared to be there and help out," says Donnelly.

People come from all over to attend SnowGlobe. Over the course of three days, people are going to need a place to stay, food, maybe warm clothes and more, which means more business for surrounding stores, restaurants, and hotels.

"Our most recent feasibility study was done back in 2017, we generated about 13.8 million in direct economic impact to the area which created the equivalent of nearly 170 full time jobs," says Donnelly.

Donnelly says some local residents aren't thrilled about the noise the festival generates, but for the most part they've been welcomed into the community with open arms.

"Over the past nine years they've had SnowGlobe and that has been a really good kind of icing to this cake. It brings in a different type of people that may not come up here in other ways. To hopefully they get a chance to ski or snowboard if they haven't before, and come back and see us," says Powder House Ski and Snowboard Manager Ted Moorhead.

Powder House Ski and Snowboard is among many local businesses who share the same excitement, and the city is right there with them as well.

"This is just another event that brings people to South Lake Tahoe. Again hopefully folks have a good time, while they're here for this event. Hopefully they spend a lot of money and support our local businesses here in South Lake Tahoe. And hopefully it's a good event that brings people back here in the future," says South Tahoe City Manager Frank Rush.
