UPDATE: The Reno Fire Department has released new details on a house fire that happened near Lotus Street on Tuesday morning.
They said the initial report was an oven explosion with burn injuries at a duplex in the area.
Reno Fire said crews worked to contain the fire but the home is no longer habitable.
They said an elderly occupant was treated on scene, but two teenage occupants left the scene before first responders arrived.
They said the original address provided by the teenagers in the 9-1-1 call was an intersection about a block away from the home.
Reno Fire said the teens later arrived at Renown Regional Medical Center and were flown to a burn center in Sacramento, according to Reno Police.
Reno Fire said Reno Police and Reno Fire Prevention Bureau officials coordinated to determine the cause of the fire was a butane gas explosion from a marijuana extraction process.
They said Red Cross is assisting with temporary accommodations for the elderly resident.
Anyone with any additional information on the case is urged to contact Reno Fire at (775) 334-2300 or Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900. You will remain anonymous.
