Four Pro Sports Leagues To Restrict Locker Room Access Over Coronavirus Fears

Carson City had its first person test presumptive positive for Coronavirus. That was announced in a press conference on Thursday. Carson City’s mayor said this was not a cause for an alarm and that the city was prepared for this.  The director of the Health and Human Services  says the risk to the community is low.

“So we will look at who the presumptive positive individual had contact with. And we will follow up with those individuals. Those are a normal disease investigation process,” said Carson City Health and Human Services Director Nikki Aacker.

A Carson City woman in her 70’s tested presumptive positive for Coronavirus on Thursday. She and her husband have placed themselves in self-isolation. “She contacted her healthcare provider, she self-isolated, and she is very diligent in her preventative measures. So yes she has done everything right,” said Aacker.

Officials still want to know who else she came in contact with.” If someone in your family does get sick, you need to prepare your entire family for the long emotional and physical strain that it can impact on them,” said Carson City Fire Department Fire Chief Sean Slamon.

Carson City Health and Human Services says the woman was traveling by plane however, when she felt symptoms. “The individual traveled from San Jose to Reno,” said Aacker. “Our case has obviously traveled to that area and I think with Washoe County, one of their cases had traveled to that area. I do not know about a community outbreak in San Jose,” said Dustin Booth from Carson City Health and Human Services.

Carson City Health and Human Services says there are no other cases so far in Carson City, Lyon County, Storey County, or Douglas County. The department says that at this time there will be no cancellations because of the one presumptive positive diagnosis. “At this time we are not advising any closures or cancellations. But we will continue to monitor the situation because the situation can change at any moment,” said Aacker.

If you or someone you know shows signs of the corona virus, Carson City residents should call 283-4789. Carson City Health and Human Services is now waiting for confirmation of the latest testing from the CDC.
