As a winter storm moves through the Sierra, chain controls and high wind restrictions have been put in place on a few area roads.
Chains are required on I-80 from central Truckee to Rainbow Road, as well as on State Route 88 in California from five miles west of Picketts Junction to Bear River Drive.
Vehicles over nine feet are prohibited through Washoe Valley on both I-580 and U.S. 395 Alternate.
A winter weather advisory is in effect for the greater Lake Tahoe area at all elevations and for Mono County above 7,000 feet.
