Auto vs Pedestrian Accident Critically Injures Woman

Accident

California Highway Patrol Troopers are investigating a head-on crash that injured five people on State Route 267 near Kings Beach early Sunday morning.

Troopers say around 6:30 a.m., 19-year-old Maxwell Jones was driving his 2002 Subaru north on SR 267 south of Kingswood Drive when for an unknown reason, Jones crossed into the oncoming lane. They say he collided head-on with a 2014 Lincoln driven by 55-year-old Treasa Larrabee, carrying 3 passengers.

Jones was flown by Careflight to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno with what CHP described as major, while Larrabee, and three of her family members were transported by ambulance to Renown.

Their conditions remain unknown, at the time of this writing.

Troopers say alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected, but they say the weather was cloudy, and the road was covered with ice and snow.

Jones is from Sutter Creek, while the Larrabee family, Treasa, Eric, 52, Abigail, 13 and Jullian, 13 are all from Durham, California.Â
