The California Highway Patrol (CHP) says deputies are investigating a fatal crash that happened on Benton Crossing Road, west of Pit Road in Mammoth Lakes, California last Saturday.
Officials said a silver 2017 Toyota Tacoma was going west on Benton Crossing Road when the driver made a series of turning movements that resulted in a rollover. They said a white 2016 Kia Sorento was traveling east on the same curved portion of Benton Crossing Road, and as the Toyota rolled across the eastbound lane, the Kia crashed into the passenger side of the truck.
Officials said one of the passengers in the Toyota was killed in the crash. She was identified as 25-year-old Krystal Kazmark of Mammoth Lakes, California.
They said the driver and another passenger in the Toyota had major injuries and were taken to hospital in Bishop and Mammoth Lakes.
Officials said the driver and a passenger of the Kia also had major injuries. There was a minor in the Kia as well, and they had moderate injuries. CHP said they were all taken to Mammoth Hospital.
CHP said the driver and occupants of the Toyota were not wearing seat belts at the time, but the driver and passengers in the Kia were.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
