Many hearts in the area are swelling with holiday spirit after taking a tour through the Hidden Valley Parade Of Lights this year.
“I don't care if you are Jewish, Christian, or whoever you are or whatever you are. There’s just something special and joyous about the lights. It makes everyone happy I think,” said local resident Nancy Schmidt.
This year's displays seem to have something for everyone.
“It’s kind of cool. It’s different from last year. The waterfall into the river display was really cool to see,” said local resident Kalayah Dupree.
“I like seeing the first place winner because they had a cabin in front of it with Santa clause in it. It was like a robot or something. It was actually really cool,” said local resident Dallas Bender.
“We really think this year is pretty awesome we really do,” said Schmidt.
Schmidt says this year seems a little different. “We've lived here for 21 years. The displays have been on again and off again. And this year so far it’s been really impressive,” said Schmidt.
During the holidays, everyone seems to have their own preference of Christmas decoration even the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District.
“Switch to LED lights if you haven't already. LED lights are more energy efficient, plus they don't burn as hot. That is a real plus from a firefighter's perspective because it reduces the fire threat,” said Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District Public Information Officer, Adam Mayberry.
No matter what the decoration though, the displays all seem to have the same effect.
“It’s just a family tradition. Something that you can bring people that you love to celebrate the holidays. It’s just something nice to do,” said Dupree.
The displays from the Hidden Valley Parade of Lights should all be up until New Year’s Eve.
