Firefighters have successfully rescued a child stuck on an island on a small lake in Paradise Park in Reno.Â
Firefighters say a 13-year-old boy walked across the ice, to the island. A passerby saw him and told him to stay there, rather than risk walking back across the ice. RFD made their way to the boy and put a life jacket on him before pulling him on a sled, to safety.
The incident happened just after noon on Friday and comes one day after two boys fell through an icy small lake in south Reno. One 13-year-old boy passed away while the other boy recovered. The Washoe County School District will offer counseling services to anyone who needs it, starting on Monday when classes resume.
