2 Convicted of Bear Trap Tampering at Lake Tahoe

Washoe County Deputies are looking for possible witnesses after a female bear was hit by a car on Highway 28 south of Incline Village early Wednesday morning.

Deputies found the three-year-old bear in the Memorial Point area south of Sand Harbor around 12:45 a.m.

Deputies say the bear was breathing but unable to move.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife was notified. Deputies say they consulted with an NDOW biologist by phone who determined that the most humane course of action would be to put it out of its misery.

Deputies remained on scene until the NDOW biologist arrived and took possession of the bear.
