An Egyptian official is dismissing media reports suggesting human remains from the downed EgyptAir flight indicate that there was an explosion on board.
The head of the government's forensic agency says those reports are just "baseless" speculation and "mere assumptions."
  Â
But another person -- a senior Egyptian forensics official -- said today that the human remains are very small in size, and that there are burn marks -- indicating that an explosion may have brought down the aircraft. The official says that's the "logical explanation."
  Â
He didn't say whether traces of explosives were found on the remains that have been retrieved so far.
  Â
The plane's black boxes have yet to be found. Photos of debris published by the Egyptian military over the weekend did not reveal any charring, and appear to show no signs of fire.
  Â
All 66 people on board were killed last Thursday when the flight from Paris to Cairo plunged into the eastern Mediterranean.
