Afghan Officials: Taliban Attack Kills at Least 20 People

Eight people were killed and 31 injured Saturday in Kabul when mortars slammed into a residential area. The mortars were blamed on Islamic State militants.

The attack came hours before U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo held meetings with the Taliban and Afghan government officials to negotiate a peace deal.

Two Taliban officials say they have found common ground, and can move forward in the negotiations.

Afghanistan's chief peace envoy Abdullah Abdullah says the U.S. decision to begin withdrawing troops from Afghanistan has come too soon.
