Elko Police say they have opened a homicide investigation after the remains of a Elko man were found late last month.Â
Police say Jose Antonio Gomez was reported missing on August 5, 2014. Since then, police say they have followed several leads, but were unable to find the 38-year-old.
Then on July 15, 2018, they say a skeleton was found in unincorporated Elko County, which later was confirmed to be that of Gomez.
Elko Police Lt. Mike Palhegyi told the Elko Daily Free Press that DNA testing confirmed Gomez’s remains.Â
The newspaper also reports that police say Gomez had been helping his girlfriend, Latisha Perez, to move the night before his disappearance.
