Facebook Removes Accounts Before Midterm Elections

Facebook removed multiple pages from its site and also removed a lot of Instagram accounts, just hours before the polls opened on Election Day.

The company was tipped by U.S. law enforcement; officials say some accounts could be linked to foreign operations.

It says it removed about 30 Facebook pages and 85 Instagram accounts.

Almost all of the Facebook pages linked to accounts appear to be in French or Russian.

The Instagram accounts were mostly in English.

U.S. officials say there is no indication that our voting systems are compromised, but they warn that foreign operatives may continue to try to influence voters.
