If you’re familiar with Fernley then you know there have been a lot of changes over the last couple of years, including a new Grocery Outlet Bargain Market that just opened on Thursday.
It's located on the corner between West Fremont Lane and Financial Way.
The residents we spoke to at Thursday’s grand opening say they welcome new amenities.
"We can see that they're going to be the beginning of even more and better things to Fernley, because Fernley is a small town with wonderful people and we really enjoy this type of atmosphere,” says Penny Phillips, a Fernley resident.
More than 600 people showed-up for the grand opening which captured the atmosphere Phillips described.
"It's exciting to see how much it's growing, and it's just going to continue to grow,” says Fernley resident Cecilia May.
If you take a look around the store you'll see a lot of land with 'for sale' signs. Mayor Roy Edgington says come spring they’ll be breaking ground on a new apartment complex and motel in the area.
He says those are just some of many exciting things to come.
"We're growing and finally starting to see some daylight, and that's a good thing. I've been here nine years and this last year we are starting to see some changes,” says Edgington.
"We are becoming a targeted area for growth and development. We've had a lot of inquiries about industrial businesses and other businesses coming in. We've seen more people moving in so it's an exciting time for Fernley,” says City of Fernley Manager Daphne Hooper.
Residents we spoke to say they couldn’t be more excited to see what’s to come.
"It's an awful lot, all at once sort of, but we can handle it. It's going to be great; you’re not going to recognize this town in about five years,” says Fernley resident Dana Uhlhron.
