Fernley Flood Suits Settled For More Than $18 Million

An attorney for plaintiffs who sued over the Fernley flood more than eight years ago says a settlement has finally been reached.

The courts overseeing the cases against the Truckee Carson Irrigation District, or TCID, have granted approval for a more than $18 million settlement.

Residents of Fernley whose homes were damaged in the January 2008 flood sued the TCID in two different courts accusing it of negligence in failing to maintain the canal that collapsed.

Approximately 580 homes were impacted by the flood.Â
