The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in the Carson City District, along with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS) and the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) say fire restrictions are being lifted on Wednesday.
The restrictions have been in place since July 27.
According to fire officials, decreasing sunlight, increasing fuel moisture levels and cooler evening temperatures are why they are being lifted.Â
The threat of wildfires remain, so fire officials want the public to still be careful when handling fires outdoors. They're encouraging people to follow these guidelines:
1. Â Â Â Ensure campfires are dead out. Leaving campfires unattended is a class B misdemeanor.
2. Â Â Â The use of incendiary or tracer rounds while recreational shooting is prohibited at all times.
3.    Target shooting – the use of steel-core ammunition can greatly increase the chance of a wildfire.
4. Â Â Â Riding motorcycles/ATVs without a spark arrester and careless smoking can all cause unwanted wildland fires.Â
5. Â Â Â The use of propane stoves versus campfires and charcoal grill fires is still preferred in dry conditions.
6. Â Â Â Firewood cutters must have a chainsaw with a functioning, approved spark arrester screen on the exhaust.Â
7. Â Â Â Open burning on private land still requires a permit from local fire departments.
