Republican Nevada Assemblyman Pat Hickey says he won't be running for re-election in 2016.
  Â
Hickey announced Tuesday that he would carry out his legislative duties in the interim, but won't seek a fifth term. He represents Assembly District 25 in Washoe County.
  Â
Hickey served one term in the Assembly in the late 1990s before he was re-elected in 2010. He served as the highest-ranking Republican in the 2013 session, but was not in leadership in the 2015 session.
  Â
He was an independent voice, blogging frequently during the legislative session to explain his moderate positions and call out fellow members of his "raucous and unruly" Republican caucus.
  Â
Hickey said he was proud to support Gov. Brian Sandoval's budget and a slate of school reforms, but said legislative stints should be short. (AP)
