Fire crews say the lightning-sparked Hot Pot Fire north of Battle Mountain is now 90% contained, with full containment expected on Saturday evening.Â
Authorities say the fire has burned 122,300 acres, which is just slightly smaller than the country of Singapore.
Crews say dozers, engines and a hand crew will complete the last ten miles of repair work on dozer lines created during suppression efforts.
Authorities say the evacuation order for the community of Midas has since been lifted. They also say firefighters are working to protect the greater sagebrush ecosystems which are critical habitat to sage grouse and many other rangeland species. Native sagebrush/grass ecosystems are critical to livestock grazing and local economies.
No roads or trail closures are in effect.
