Hug Students Collaborate With Local Chefs to Host Annual 'Ardour' Pop-Up Restaurant

From the Washoe County School District:

Culinary students at Hug High School are participating in Future Kind's annual Ardour event, a one-night pop-up restaurant experience that combines high-end dining with educational programs and community outreach. The event, hosted at Reno Provisions at 100 N. Sierra St., will take place on Monday, April 13 at 7 p.m. and will feature a South-American influenced menu that showcases the talents of the Hug culinary students.

The dinner is the culminating event of the week-long Ardour Pop-Up Project, an innovative partnership between the Reno-based nonprofit, Future Kind, Hug High School's Advanced Culinary Arts program, Reno Provisions, and guest chefs Ian Madan and Chase Daley.

In the week prior to the event, students attended workshops held by the guest chefs, learning and practicing processes associated with running a pop-up restaurant. This includes designing a menu and preparing a high-end meal. During the workshops, students have the opportunity to tour the Reno Provisions kitchen, meet staff, and learn about the local food culture.

Top-performing students will be selected to work alongside the chefs during the April 13 meal, helping with food preparation, service, and greeting guests.

The Ardour Pop-Up Project was designed by the Reno-based non-profit Future Kind as an educational and community building initiative. All proceeds from the annual event go toward sustaining and expanding the project, as well as funding other Future Kind local education programs.
