National Park Service: Missing Hiker's Body Found in Kings Canyon National Park

The Carson City Sheriff's Office says deputies are investigating after human remains were found at Marlette Lake on Sunday.

Officials said bicyclists found a human skull on the Flume Trail at Marlette Lake within the Lake Tahoe State Park. They said it appears the skull had been exposed to the elements for some time.

The state of Nevada Park Rangers assisted with the investigation and determined the location of the remains were within the Carson City Sheriff's Office jurisdiction.

Officials said on Monday, the Investigation Division and Search and Rescue Unit found additional remains.

On Tuesday, the Human Remains Detection k9 Inca was used to search steep terrain and identify several areas of interest for further investigation.

The remains will be sent to the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office for examination.

Anyone with any information on the case is urged to contact Carson City Sheriff's Office at (775) 887-2677 or Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900. You will remain anonymous.
