Six Nevada Assembly incumbents are out of a job after elections that favored Republicans and allowed the party to capture a wide majority in the heavily Democratic lower house.
The losses included veteran Democratic lawmakers Jason Frierson, Richard "Skip" Daly and Paul Aizley, as well as one-term legislators James Healey, Andy Eisen and Lesley Cohen.
Democrats previously held a 27-15 majority, but power flipped and now favors Republicans 25-17.
Newly elected Assemblyman Brent Jones attributes his success to nationwide discontent over Obama Administration policies, but said he also worked hard to knock on doors, place more than 600 yard signs and send out positive mailers.
He says he was surprised by the extent of the Republican takeover, and thinks Democrats lost in part because they underestimated the voter wave.
