Memorial Day is just days away and law enforcement agencies across Northern Nevada are cracking down on drivers who don't buckle up.
On Wednesday troopers held a demonstration of seatbelt safety using a device call "the convincer" which simulates a crash at five miles an hour.
They say wearing a seatbelt properly can dramatically increase your chances of surviving any type of accident- by holding you in place.
"We've actually seen a lot of accidents out there where lives could have been saved just by having a seatbelt on. Not a rollover accident, nothing major, could be even low speed,” says Trooper Dave Gibson.
This "Click it or Ticket" enforcement campaign runs through June first.
Funding for this traffic safety initiative was secured by the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety as part of the federally funded “Joining Forces” grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
