The Lyon County Sheriff's Office says one person is dead after an officer-involved shooting near Cardon Lane and Willhoyt Lane in Yerington on Thursday afternoon.

Officials said it happened around 1:39 p.m.

They said an adult male allegedly threatened his neighbor with a gun.

Officials said when deputies got there, they told the man to drop the weapon and put his hands up, but the man did not obey and advanced on the deputies.

They said the man pulled out a hand gun, and that's when deputies fired at him. 

Lyon County Sheriff's Office says the man died and all deputies involved were safe.

Lyon County Sheriff's Office says the Nevada Division of Investigation is taking over the investigation, along with the help of the Washoe County Sheriff's Office Forensics Crime Scene Unit. They said the Douglas County Sheriff's Office is also assisting the investigation.

They said all names of those involved are being withheld until further notice.
