The Washoe County District Attorney's Office says a man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for driving under the influence in June 2015.
25-year-old Bernardo Ugalde-Torres was driving under the influence of alcohol on June 17, 2015 when he crashed his Hyundai Elantra into a motorcycle around 1:30 a.m.
A 62-year-old Ohio man was driving the motorcycle, along with his wife as a passenger. Â The man sustained major injuries, including a severed left leg, fractured right leg and multiple lacerations. His wife received significant injuries including multiple fractures of the leg, wrist and ribs. Ugalde-Torres received minor injuries and all three were transported to the hospital.
A crash analysis showed that Ugalde-Torres was traveling at a minimum speed of 90 mph when he struck the motorcycle.Â
Ugalde-Torres must serve a minimum of ten years in prison before he is eligible for parole.
