Man Threatens People at Two Sparks Businesses, Police Say

Sparks Police say they have arrested a man on several deadly weapon-related charges after he allegedly threatened people with a knife at two different businesses early Tuesday morning.

Sparks Police say they arrested a man in connection with a robbery at the 99 Cent Store on Prater Way early Tuesday morning.

Police say the suspect, 32-year-old Michael Lopez, reportedly threatened employees with a knife when they tried to stop him from stealing.

They provided police with a description and the car he was driving.

Less than ten minutes later, Sparks Police received a call from Sierra Sids TA McCarran Blvd. with a man matching the same description.

When officers arrived, they found a car matching earlier descriptions unoccupied.

Police say when Lopez left the building, he refused officers commands, so they Tazed him.

Lopez faces several deadly weapon-related charges including resisting an officer and one county of burglary.
