A caravan honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. will start approximately 10:30 a.m. and will take Keystone to I-80 east to 395 south then exit at Neil Road #62 and get back on 395 to go north to the Stead exit, then back to Reno.
The Food Bank of Northern Nevada is honoring the MLK National Day of Service on Monday by offering an all-ages volunteer session from 2–4 p.m.Â
Generally, the age requirement to work at the Food Bank warehouse is at least ten years of age. For this event, children of all ages will be volunteering with their families.  Â
During this session, volunteers will be packing produce into family-size bags for distribution through the Mobile Harvest program and the 140+ partner agencies who distribute food throughout the area.Â
The MLK National Day of Service all-ages volunteer session will be held at the Food Bank of Northern Nevada warehouse located at 550 Italy Drive off USA Parkway.Â
Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation (TMPF) will host a bioblitz in Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park 9am - 12pm.Â
The Day of Service BioBlitz is free and open to volunteers of all ages. We will also provide bags and trash picker kits for clean up at the park as well.Â

Later - the Northern Nevada Black Cultural Awareness Society annual MLK dinner will be held at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa at 6 p.m. with a silent auction at 5:30 p.m. This year's theme is 'Through the Eyes of Progress.' Tickets are $70. Proceeds benefit NNBCAS youth programs and cultural events. The late Reno-Sparks NAACP matriarch and former president Dolores Feemster will be honored. Meanwhile, there are a number of closures on the holiday.
Most government offices and schools are closed in observance of the holiday.
The City of Reno Administrative Offices are closed, including City Hall, Reno Municipal Court, and all city recreational facilities.Â
Sparks City Hall, Sparks Parks and Recreation, the Alf Sorensen Community Center, and the Larry D. Johnson Community Centers are closed.Â
The RTC’s transit services will be on a regular schedule. The RTC’s administrative offices will be closed. RTC Customer Service will remain open from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Transit passengers can reach RTC Customer Service representatives by calling (775) 348-RIDE.Â
There will be no classes at UNR or TMCC.
