An affordable housing project is bringing 50 low income apartments to Dayton. The new apartments will be located near retail road, that's behind Smith's.
Applicants need to make less than $35,000 a year.
The apartments are expected to be completed by this time next year.
“The process starts in January, it’s quite a process to get someone qualified they don’t only have to show their income and prove it, but have to have a fairly decent credit score,” says Eddie Hult, Development Director.
The apartments will be one and two bedrooms located near Retail Road, an area that already has some affordable housing options, that belong to the same project, but this time, the goal is to build apartments for rent.
“We have plenty of large homes, golf course homes, we have large homes but not a lot of affordable homes for first time home buyers, young families and work force housing” says Dayton resident John Cassinelli.
Rent and utilities will cost $340 to $600 a month and the project will include a dog park, playground, flower garden, and washer and dryer.
