Jacobs Entertainment announced it's turning a motel on 4th Street into loft apartments.

Jacobs says the Courtyard Inn Motel in the 600 block of West 4th Street will be turned into the Loft 601 Apartments as part of the new Neon Line District.

Jacobs is spending $5 million to convert the motel which should be finished by the middle of next year.

Jacobs says the first tenants should be moving in by July.

Jacobs says the people who currently live in the motel who can't afford rates at the new apartments will be given subsidies so they can relocate.

Reno’s Neon Line District is a mixed-use development intended to drive over $1 billion of new development activity in the area.

The centerpiece of the district is Reno’s Neon Line, a half-mile long public art walk, which when completed will include monumental sculptures as well as historic neon sign art.

Reno’s Neon Line will be completed in the summer of 2021.
