Nevada Democrats plan to introduce legislation requiring businesses to offer universal paid sick leave.
Senate Minority Leader Aaron Ford plans to introduce a bill in the Senate on Thursday that would require Nevada businesses to provide a standard amount of paid sick leave for workers.
The proposal would give workers an hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked and would take effect 90 days after employment. The proposal would limit paid sick leave to a minimum of 24 hours per year.
The bill includes provisions allowing the paid time off to be used for family members and for counseling related to domestic violence or sexual assault.
Democrats included paid sick leave as a provision in their "Nevada Blueprint," an alternative legislative plan introduced on Monday. (AP)
