Nevada (11-7, 4-2 MW) defeated Wyoming (5-14, 0-7 MW) 68-67 tonight on layup by junior Jalen Harris with under 9 seconds to play at Lawlor Events Center before 8,047 fans.
Nevada next plays at No. 6/7 San Diego State (18-0, 7-0 MW) on Saturday at 5 p.m. PT. The game will air on CBS Sports Network. SDSU is one of two undefeated teams in NCAA I.
First-year Nevada head coach Steve Alford is two wins from 600 in his 29th season of coaching college basketball. Alford is 598-305.
The Wolf Pack has won its last 15 consecutive Mountain West home games and is 28-2 in the last 30 MW home games.
Harris scored a game-high 20 points. It was the seventh time he posted a game high, 14th consecutive game he scored in double figures and eighth game of 20 or more points this season. He has scored 20 or more points each of the last three games. Harris’ 10 games of leading the Pack in scoring is the team high.
Senior Jazz Johnson scored his 1,400th collegiate point tonight, 740 of the points came at Portland. Currently he has 1,410 points in 116 games.
Johnson’s 16 points tonight gives him a team-high 16 games in double figures this season.
Nisré Zouzoua scored his 1,200th collegiate point in the game, 1,025 points came at Bryant. In 101 games he has scored 1,208 points.
Zouzoua scored in double figures for the eighth time this season after his 12 tonight.
Senior Lindsey Drew and sophomore Robby Robinson tied for team honors with eight rebounds each. Drew has led the Pack in rebounding a team-high nine times and it was the fifth time Robinson topped the team in rebounding.
