Reno Police have released video of a car chase and arrest of suspects allegedly involved in a vehicle burglary and shots fired incident from earlier this month.
It happened on December 5 just before midnight, according to a release from the RPD.
Police got a call from a person saying they had been following a car believed to be involved in multiple vehicle burglaries.
While that person was following the vehicle, police say the people inside it fired several shots at the person using a handgun.
That person stopped following the car and waited for police.
Soon after, an officer found the suspect car near South Virginia Street and East Liberty Street.
The officer attempted to pull over the car, but it fled, and a chase began.
A Precision Immobilization Technique maneuver, which can be seen in the video, was executed on Wells Avenue north of 6th Street, near the eastbound I-80 on-ramp, stopping the car.
When the suspect car came to a stop, the front passenger fled on foot. K9 Jack and his handler were deployed to track and arrest the suspect, which they did as he was trying to climb a fence.
That suspect was found to be armed with a handgun, police say, and had earlier discarded a second gun. The suspect later admitted to firing shots at the reporting party, police say.
Police canvassed the shooting scene, and K9 Jack found three fired casings in the road.
Three people were arrested in connection with the incident.
Mateo McKim was arrested for shooting-related offenses and obstructing/resisting officers, Dion Shadbakht was arrested for felony eluding, and a juvenile was arrested for minor in possession of alcohol.
The investigation is ongoing.
